A whole-body massage with ayurvedic oils to balance the mind as well as body, Abhyanga increases circulation, aligns the doshas, and eliminates toxins. A therapeutic and deeply relaxing experience, Abhyanga increases vitality, strength, flexibility, and mental/emotional well-being.
Pizhichil is an invigorating process and a very effective therapy in most illnesses arising from vata imbalance. It releases toxins from the joints and muscles and thus improves the mobility of the joints. In Pizhichil, the whole body is massaged while warm oil containing special herbs is poured in a steady stream from above the body.
The knots that are formed in the energy channels of the body due to emotions and subtler feelings are the cause of many diseases. Marma Chikitsa is a very gentle form of bodywork that enhances the free flow of prana (life force) by releasing these blocks. Marma Chikitsa revitalises the entire system.
A steady stream of warm oil is lightly poured between the eyes in a specific pattern. Warm oil massage on the forehead area massages and soothes all the nerves of the body. Shirodhara brings peace and clarity to the mind. It is especially helpful for those with pitta imbalances.
SNEHANA / SNEHAPANA
Snehana prepares one’s system before going through Panchakarma therapies. Snehana nurtures the tissues and entire organs with oils and ghees medicated with herbs customized to the practitioner. Toxins are pushed out from their seats of derangement and brought to the organs like rectum, stomach etc. to be eventually eliminated from the system.
SWEDANA (SWEAT THERAPY)
Swedana is the therapeutic application of heat to the body to enable the pores and channels of the body to open so that ama (toxins) can be released easily. This results in sweatingas the pores open. Heat makes it easier for toxins to be carried from the tissues and the bodily forces responsible for transporting toxic waste from deep tissues to the gastro-intestinal tract are also mobilised.
The nose is the direct pathway through which prana (life force) enters the body. Nasya involves the administration of herbal oils through the nasal passage. Nasya improves brain function by cleansing and opening the channels in the head, improving the flow of prana. Nasya is a very important treatment that stimulates the tissues and glands in the brain and gives quick relief to many health problems.
Virechana is a cleansing therapy using purgation. It removes toxins from the middle and lower areas of the gastro- intestinal tract. This is done by administering specific herbal medicines through the mouth to initiate the elimination process through the bowels. Virechana is a solution for many physical problems – particularly pitta and kapha disorders.
A whole body sweating therapy. A paste of herbs and grains boiled in milk is made into a poultice and taken in a wrapped cloth. It is then rubbed continuously on the whole body in a synchronised pattern. PindaSweda revitalises the body by imparting nourishment to the tissue, restores energy and mobility and relieves stress.
A scalp treatment that stabilizes the nervous system and activates the marma points in the head.
A treatment using herbal oils on the head, which is a treatment for various ailments of the neck and head. It nourishes and rejuvenates the nerves in the region above the neck and helps cure many nervous system disorders of eye, ear and nose. It is also used to treat chronic headaches.
Medicated enema is given for eliminating various toxins from body. Particularly for vata dosha
Raktamokshana is an effective blood purification therapy, in which carefully controlled removal of small quantities of blood is conducted to neutralize accumulated Pitta toxins of many blood borne diseases. This is because Raktamokshana decreases the quantum of enhanced Pitta dosha and thus the diseases caused by Pitta are also relieved.
Vamana is intended for the removal of kapha dosha. Vamana has been described as the treatment which helps to throw out the doshas or the toxins out of the body from upper part in the form of induced vomittings.
Also known as poultice or kizhi, Potli massage is normally done in the form of heated herbal pouches. Their aim is to bring a therapeutic effect on the body by relaxing, nourishing and rejuvenating.
